Poster for the Conference on Small Molecular Science
Printed on transparency film
Typeface: OCR A Standard
This project from a Poster Studio class introduced a reverse method of the design process. The process of this poster began with form creation out of randomly collected pieces of paper and collaged together to make an interesting form. From these collages, we were asked find meaning in the forms and to then choose a current event which spoke to this meaning. From there, we would build upon the design.
My original collage of black shapes to me resembled DNA strands, so I chose an event on molecular biology. With added imagery of molecular structures, layered textures and silhouettes, the subject is reinforced through a dynamic design.
The typeface used is OCR A Standard, and the poster is printed on transparency film to suggest X-ray prints and microscope slides.
